The Opportunity
The Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN) brings local government sustainability practitioners together to learn, collaborate and accelerate the work of local sustainability. What started as a small peer learning collaboration is now a robust and engaged network of more than 2,000 member practitioners, representing 239 diverse communities and nearly 90 million residents across the U.S. and Canada, all working to address issues of sustainability in their local communities. Recognizing this milestone, USDN found itself at a critical juncture. It needed Mapt Solutions to help it shift from an emerging organization focused on scaling to one oriented around structure and deepening its mission.
Our Approach
Mapt employed a phased approached that included an in-depth landscape analysis and interviews with practitioners, USDN staff members and other stakeholders; development of a strategic vision and plan complete with a new brand positioning to refresh and refocus USDN’s identity to move the organization into its next chapter; and creation of a three-year supporting roadmap to shape USDN’s work and ensure the plan went from paper to reality.
In addition to these resources, Mapt provided USDN with implementation tools to turn the plan into action and milestones to ensure the organization is moving toward plan goals.
